2023 will soon be a past. It was indeed a generous year. I am grateful it kept me busy throughout. Time, regardless of its duration, has an incredible tendency to teach us about its favourite subject- life.
This newsletter is inspired by The Alipore Post’s newsletter 23 Lessons from 2023.
Here are my learnings from 2023:
Watering plants is an underrated and one of the most therapeutic activities. Do it often. Surrender before Mother Earth. Help her to heal. Learn more and more about our environment.
Blow dry your hair. It makes a hell of a lot of a difference.
Dry hands, chapped lips, and cracked heels suck. Take care in advance.
Slow down a bit often. Breathe in! Breathe Out!
Be more mindful about your eating. It’s a need.
Everyone irrespective of their colour, age, gender or socio-economic status deserves respect. Talk politely to everyone no matter what. Remember it is a reflection of your character, not theirs.
Do what you feel like without forgetting to live that after feeling of listening to your heart.
You will always regret buying unnecessary make-up products.
Buy more and more books. But before that read the ones you already have.
Value everyone’s time starting from yours. Give time to your loved ones starting from yourself. Trust the timing of your life. Time is everything.
At times in life, you will feel the distance from the people closest to you. Accept that instead of ignoring it. Carry forward that relationship with that acceptance.
Comparison and expectations are the famous killers of joy. Remember two mantras:
- You do You.
- You are You and that’s enough.
Your values are personal. Don’t try to align them with everyone else.
Believe me, there is not as much work in your workplace as your moronic colleague complains about.
Interact with people in real life. Online friendships are the best waste of time and feelings.
Besan and Oats Cheela is an easy, healthy and yummy recipe.
There should be a warning for watching “Me Before You” at your own risk of getting hurt at another level. Tears won’t stop, I swear.
Talk to your mother more. She is funnier than you know. Look at your father’s eyes often. They are proud of you. Your brother is actually your best friend.
Buy gold, not diamond.
Kids give you the best hugs. They have the most innocent eyes and contagious laughter. You should be grateful to spend time with them. And they like you too. So, deal with it.
Dentists are not ghosts. You can visit them. You should visit them.
Exercising is bliss. Stop making excuses to exercise.
Say Sorry only when you are.
PS. A gift from someone special (not the penguin).
A special thanks to all those subscribed to Live.Love.Write. We are a small family of 40 here. This number is so small. The accuracy of numbers makes comparison so easy and steals our joy. Yes, 40 is a very small number for a newsletter subscribers list. But imagine cooking food for forty people. Now, that’s a tough task! A mere change in perspective does wonders- I repeatedly tell this to myself. And so far we are doing well.
I am grateful to have you all here.
Thank you!
Alvida 2023!
Aakanksha.
